Founder of DG Life Group · Protecting Dallas families since 2012

What independence actually buys you Not a discount - rates are filed with state regulators, so the premium is the same whether you buy direct or through a broker. What it buys is access to the carrier whose guidelines fit your file, out of more than 30. On a straightforward case that is worth little. On anything with health history it is frequently worth thousands. why the same person gets different quotes.

Dev Gaymes

Founder & Licensed Insurance Advisor

I started DG Life Group in 2012 with a simple belief: life insurance shouldn't be confusing, expensive, or sold through pressure. Families deserve an advisor who listens first, educates second, and sells third - if at all.

Since then, I've worked with families across 19 states, comparing coverage from 30+ A-rated carriers. I don't work for any single insurance company - I work for you. That means I compare options from dozens of carriers to find the best policy at the best price for your specific situation.

My specialty is living benefits life insurance - policies that protect you while you're alive, not just after. After watching families struggle with the financial devastation of serious illness, I made it my mission to educate every client on this option.

Why I Do This

Whether you're a young professional locking in rates, a parent protecting your family, or a retiree planning your legacy - I'll walk you through the same process I've refined since 2012.

As an independent broker, I'm not employed by any insurance company. I have no quotas, no captive products to push, and no reason to recommend anything that isn't genuinely the best option for you.

"My job isn't to sell you a policy. It's to make sure you understand your options so well that the right choice becomes obvious."

How I Ended Up Doing This

I have been licensed since 2012. Like most people in this industry I started at a company that sold one carrier's products, and I was reasonably good at it. What bothered me was the cases where I knew the answer was somewhere else - a client with a health history the carrier priced badly, or someone who genuinely did not need what I was there to sell.

Going independent solved that. DG Life Group is a brokerage, not an agency of any one insurer. I place business with more than 30 A-rated carriers, which means the recommendation follows the situation instead of a product shelf. It also means I can tell someone their existing coverage is fine and there is nothing to do - which happens more often than the marketing in this industry suggests.

What I Actually Work On

Roughly in order of how often it comes up:

  • Family income protection. Term coverage sized to a mortgage, an income, and a timeline. The majority of what I do, and usually the simplest.
  • Cases with health history. Diabetes, sleep apnea, cardiac history, cancer in remission, elevated build. This is where independent brokerage earns its keep, because carriers diverge sharply on the same file. How conditions get underwritten.
  • Living benefits. Structuring coverage that can be accessed during a serious illness, and comparing how differently carriers define the triggers. The guide covers those definitions.
  • Business owners. Buy-sell funding, key person coverage, and collateral assignment when a lender requires it. Frequently under deadline.
  • Retirement income. Where guaranteed income genuinely fits, and where it does not. Sequence of returns risk is usually the real question underneath.
  • Reviews of coverage people already own. No charge, nothing to buy, and often the most useful conversation of the lot.

What I Turn Down

Worth being explicit about, because it says more than a list of credentials:

  • Permanent policies sold as investments to people who have not maxed their retirement accounts. Cash value has a place, but it comes after the tax-advantaged accounts, not instead of them.
  • Coverage amounts that stretch a household's budget. A policy that lapses in year six protects nobody.
  • Replacing existing coverage when the existing coverage is fine. If your old policy is better than what I could sell you, I will say so.
  • Strategies the client cannot explain back to me. If it takes a flowchart to justify, it is usually being sold rather than recommended.
How I am paid, since it matters. Insurance carriers pay a commission when a policy is placed. Rates are filed with state regulators, so your premium is identical whether you buy direct, through a call center, or through me - there is no version where using a broker costs you more. I would rather you know that up front than wonder about it later.
