Editorial & Accuracy Policy

Who writes this site, how it is reviewed, where the numbers come from, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.

This page explains who writes the material on this site, how it is reviewed, where the numbers come from, and how we handle corrections. We publish it because you should be able to judge whether a source is worth trusting before you rely on it.

Effective August 9, 2026 · Last reviewed August 2026

Who writes and reviews this site

All insurance content on dglifegroup.com is written or reviewed by Dev Gaymes, founder of DG Life Group and a licensed insurance advisor practising since 2012 (NIPR# 16654074), licensed in 19 states.

We do not publish anonymous content, and we do not publish syndicated or purchased articles under our own name. If a page carries a "Last reviewed" date, that means it was read end to end on that date and corrected where needed.

How we source information

Where a page states a statistic, a cost, a regulation, or a tax rule, we cite the source and, where it matters, the publication date. Our preferred sources, in order:

  • Primary government sources - HHS and ASPE, CMS, the IRS, the Social Security Administration, and state departments of insurance.
  • Industry standards bodies - the NAIC, and AM Best for carrier financial strength ratings.
  • Established research organisations - LIMRA, Morningstar, Genworth/CareScout, the NFDA, and similar bodies that publish their methodology.
  • Carrier documentation - for product mechanics, always subordinate to the issued contract.

We avoid citing other insurance agencies, content marketing sites, and lead-generation pages as sources of fact. Where reputable sources disagree, we say so rather than picking the more flattering number.

A worked example. Two credible figures circulate for how many people will need long-term care: roughly 70% (Administration for Community Living, 2020) and 56% (HHS ASPE research brief, revised August 2022). They measure slightly different things. We standardised on the lower, more recent, more conservative figure and cite it, because a claim you can defend is worth more than a claim that sounds better.

How we handle numbers that change

Premiums, cap rates, care costs, contribution limits, and estate tax exemptions all move. We treat any page containing them as perishable:

  • Pages containing tax figures, statistics, regulations, premium ranges, or market data are reviewed at least annually.
  • Every such page displays a Last reviewed date so you can judge how current it is.
  • Where a figure is inherently a range or varies by carrier and state, we say that rather than presenting a single number as universal.

Education is not advice

Everything on this site is general education. It is not a recommendation, not a quote, not an offer of insurance, and not investment, tax, or legal advice. No page here can account for your health, your finances, or your objectives, and no recommendation can responsibly be made without reviewing them.

DG Life Group is an independent insurance brokerage. We are not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer, and we do not offer securities or investment advisory services. For tax questions consult a qualified tax advisor; for legal and estate questions, an attorney.

How we talk about products and carriers

  • We describe rather than rank. Where we reference third-party rankings of insurers, we attribute them to their publisher rather than presenting them as our own conclusions.
  • We avoid superiority claims. We write how products compare, not which one beats another, because the honest answer depends on the reader's situation.
  • We disclose the trade-offs. Any page recommending a product category also states who it is not right for.
  • We disclose how we are paid. DG Life Group is compensated by commission from the issuing insurance company when a policy or contract is placed. Insurance rates are filed with state regulators, so your premium is the same whether you buy direct or through a broker.

Client examples and case studies

Case studies on this site are illustrative composites unless explicitly stated otherwise. They are not actual clients, they contain no identifying details, and they are not a promise of results. Individual outcomes depend on age, health, carrier underwriting, and the terms of the issued contract.

Corrections

Insurance regulations, products, rates, and tax rules change, and we get things wrong sometimes. If you find an outdated or inaccurate statement on this site, tell us.

Email [email protected] or call 214-989-7704 with the page and the statement in question. We review every report. Where a factual error is confirmed we correct the page and update its Last reviewed date. Where the point is a matter of interpretation, we will tell you that too.

What we will not publish

  • Statistics we cannot trace to a named source.
  • Guarantees about underwriting outcomes, approval, or rates.
  • Claims that a specific carrier's guidelines will treat you a particular way.
  • Content designed primarily to rank rather than to answer a real question.
  • Fear-based framing. If a risk is real, the facts are sufficient.

Found Something Wrong?

Tell us the page and the statement. We review every report and correct confirmed errors.
